The concept of yoga is holistic. It teaches that we can't live without others, we cannot live without animals, we cannot live without nature. We are part of nature way more than we pretend to be. Nature is where we came from.

January is the perfect time to put yourself to the test: it's Veganuary month (a word born from the union of vegan and January, vegan and January), an initiative that helps people around the world to try the vegan diet and lifestyle for 31 days. Participants receive a daily email with information and insights, as well as tasty recipes and tips on how to replace ingredients that contain animal products.

The UN chief said economic recovery packages launched in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic represented an opportunity to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future — but warned so much more needs to be done to ward off catastrophic consequences. So far, the members of the G20 are spending 50% more in their stimulus and rescue packages on sectors linked to fossil fuel production and consumption, than on low-carbon energy.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was established on the assumption that violence against women is a violation of human rights. This violation is a consequence of discrimination against women, both legally and practically, and the persistent inequalities between men and women.

To avoid future epidemics, we must act on prevention, to safeguard human health through the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity, by reducing intensive agriculture and livestock farming, indiscriminate exploitation of forests and natural habitats, trade in wildlife.

Globally, the EU is responsible for more than 10% of the destruction of forests through the consumption of products such as meat, dairy products, soya for animal feed, palm oil, coffee and cocoa. The European Union has therefore decided to open a public consultation procedure on the theme of forest protection: "Deforestation and forest degradation - reducing the impact of products placed on the EU market".

Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. 

The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
