The four-day workweek benefits the climate

A new British study suggests that this formula can also assist in the fight against climate change.
Introducing the four-day working week - on equal pay - in the UK would lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 127 million tonnes per year by 2025 (21.3% compared to today’s levels). It is the equivalent of wiping out Switzerland’s entire carbon footprint or, to use another term of comparison, wiping out 27 million vehicles, the entire UK private car fleet. These results would be due to the decrease in the consumption of electricity and of home-office travel, but also of the greater time available for family, sport, reading and other activities with reduced impact on the climate.

New Zealand has already shown some openness to the idea of a four-day working week. In recent months, the Spanish Government has also raised this possibility. The Scottish prime  minister included it in her program which reconfirmed her for a second term. (source: lifegate.it)
