The climate is getting more extreme every day

Posted by Maria Cristina Chiulli on

This year 2021 has already seen the occurrence of extreme weather events, even in countries that hitherto felt distant from climate disasters. From the highest temperatures ever recorded in North America and Canada, and also in Northern Europe and Siberia, to the floods of these hours in Central and Northern Europe, extreme events are devastating the entire world, causing deaths, missing persons and damages of several billion dollars.

In Germany, along with the relief efforts, political reflection on climate change has begun, identified as the main cause of the extreme and abnormal weather events of these hours, highlighting the need to accelerate climate protection measures.

It is time for politics and institutions to act with unprecedented and immediate efforts to reverse the harmful effects of the wicked exploitation and pollution of natural resources. The targets for the reduction of CO2 emissions by 2050 are ridiculous: if we continue as we are today, it will be difficult to arrive all safe even to 2030!

An act of courage from everyone - governments, industries, utilities, individuals - is vital.

The planet is One, humanity is One, we must act NOW!
